The kids were at the crib, as I was strapped to an infant on my back. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however we were a long way off. It would take a great deal of effort as well as a passion for shopping. To stay within my budget I took my kids with me to look for hidden treasures at estate sales. Our routine was to visit auctions and garage sales on Saturday and Sunday and purchase a range of pieces old and newly constructed. My work days were spent on the drive either painting or sanding. My passion for restoration of furniture began with a look that was similar to this. I continued to work on furniture, even after having decorated our house. I had a space at the local market and even sold some items there. In the end, I had numerous pieces that I did not know what to do and my storage space was a mess. There were open houses at my house which saw over 1 000 guests came through on one weekend, and buy anything they saw on the ground floor. Growing Days was created in this home. Not only was my business flourishing, but I was also growing our sweet family as well. As a mom of a child I was able to find the perfect way to be able to begin my own business as well as become a great mother. Growing Days just fit. Nora, my 4th kid was born in 2013. My business was booming but I wanted a rest. I decided to slow down and spend some time at home, with my kids. That was precisely the thing I needed. It was only after several months that the phones started to be ringing. I started receiving requests from people requesting for assistance with home improvements as well as interior design. The majority of people who contacted me came from people who visited my home at one of my furniture open house events. I started taking on some customers one by one working at my own pace but it wasn't too time before I was running numerous accounts and had a complete home renovation business. If you'd have predicted that this venture of mine could become an idea for a TV show for the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. Actually, I smile a little when I remember it.
