Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with actors and directors in stage and on screen throughout all of her career. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be released on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place on March 20, 2023. He plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the nation's first impeachment proceedings during the Over 100 Years. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and grew up there.
